"When my partner and I moved to Ithaca in 2008, we quickly got to know Kristin as the go-to person when it comes to cats in trouble in our county. She's well-connected, strategic, and endlessly compassionate and generous. What she's doing is a service not just to cats but to our whole community." ~Ari Moore Evergreen
"After arriving at the decision to add another furry member to my family, I spoke with Kristin, of Browncoat Cat Rescue, about what I was looking for. Although I thought I wanted a specific kind of cat, Kristin knew what (or whom) my perfect match would be... and she was so right! Not only did I fall in love with Simon, I also fell in love with his brother Jazzpurr. The boys now live together with me in my crazy house of furry friends.. happily ever after! Thank you Kristin for knowing the perfect place for the boys to spend the rest of their lives! P.S. - On a side note, I was happy to foster a set of three siblings this past Spring (Adventure Pants, Penelope, and Charles Mingus). Two of the three have found their forever home with friends of mine and thanks to Browncoat Cat Rescue, another set of siblings will be together forever!" ~A. Secrest
I'd be remiss if I didn't share something near and dear to my heart. One year ago today, a tiny little fuzzball was born in a bathtub. Together with her brothers and sisters, they made quite the group for their mother Freya.
8 weeks later, my daughter and I got to meet these little balls of energy. Ninja and Albert came out immediately to play, the two just couldn't get enough of a cat toy. But we wondered where the third little fuzzball had gone off to (their other two siblings had already found their forever homes.)
Hiding under the sofa, was this little thing. This cute little furry black bundle of cuteness I could hold in the palm of my hand. Her name was Fifi. She quickly joined her brothers in the chase as we watched in utter amazement how this little thing had so much energy! My daughter went over to her and gave her the biggest snuggle you can give a tiny lump of fur, and she was in love. Then Fifi looked at me. She already mastered the kitty mind whammy (probably learned from her brother Ninja) and I knew she belonged with our family.
I went back upstairs to make the final arrangements and as I held her someone said "Fifi". I said "No, her name is Zoe."
She is a crazy ball of silliness, and we wouldn't have her any other way.Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU to Browncoat Cat Rescue for bringing us together. You rock! ~A.C.
Simon is so wonderful!!! I love his little personality, he is definitely a momma's boy and follows me around wherever I go. He seemed totally comfortable from the very first night he came home. He and the dog get along beautifully and the dog is very patient with his tail attack games. I am so happy to have him. Thank you for fostering him with so much love, he came into my home without any fear and with a very open little heart. ~LB
Browncoat Cat Rescue's Captain is a remarkable person who devotes all of her considerable energy to saving the lives of cats and kittens who otherwise would have very little chance of surviving. Even though she is always on the move, trapping and attending to the veterinary needs of the many cats and kittens who move through her program, she never cuts corners when it comes to ensuring that her charges are placed in secure, suitable, and long-term homes. She does home visits for all foster and forever homes and is on call for her entire community—not just her "host families"—when it comes to subtleties of feline behavior and the sometimes complex process of introducing cats and kittens to homes with other pets and children. All of us who have worked with her can testify to her commitment to teaching by example and providing us with the skills we need to effect rescues and raise healthy and happy feline family members. Browncoat Cat Rescue is a sorely needed local resource that has saved hundreds of precious lives. ~SB
