Spooky Mama

All too often, people don't reach out for help until their problems are overwhelming. I get called to homes with 20, 30, 50 cats. Thankfully, Tracy from Newfield, NY came to me at exactly the right time. She had been feeding this mama cat, and then when her kittens came along, she fed them right along with her. Kittens take their cues from their moms, and this mom was SPOOKY! She didn't trust anybody! So unfortunately, even with a wonderful woman taking care of them, those babies were growing up feral. Three of the kittens were trusting enough to walk into a carrier to eat, and were easily caught that way. The forth took a page out of mom's book, and had to be trapped. A few days after her kittens were in their new indoor home, this grey girl got trapped as well, and was brought in to be spayed and vaccinated. The abrasions on her face are from where she tried to escape the trap, even though it was fully covered. Some feral cats are so frightened that they will ignore the pain in hopes of getting to a hiding place. Luckily for this girl, Tracy feeds her the highest end foods, and kept an eye on her face to make sure everything healed well. She's still a spooky little thing, but she's in a good place.
